Tutorials

Contents

In this step-by-step tutorial, you will learn how to quickly create appealing breakdance blog templates. Whether for the post archive or for single posts themselves: With Breakdance you can design custom layouts.

Set up a blog

1. create a blog page

Go to "Pages" and create a page called Blog.

2. set posts page

Go to "Settings" in the WordPress dashboard to "Reading" and select under "Posts page" the blog page you have just created.

3. create demo posts

If you haven't created any blog posts yet, you can now create some demo posts each with a post image and a demo text so that you can see them as examples for all subsequent work steps and design adjustments on your blog page.

4. create breakdance blog templates

Go to "Breakdance" > "Templates" and select "Add Template" . Here you must have both a "Single Post" as well as a "Post Archive" create.

Design the post archive page

5. design the blog archive

We will start with the „Post Archive“. This will be the blog overview page of your website. Hover over „Post Archive“ and click on „Edit in Breakdance“.

6. post list element

Click on "Add" and search for the "Post List"-Element from Breakdance. You can now insert this element into your layout with one click.

7. style post archive template

A grid with all your posts should appear now. Here you have options to set the title, metadata and much more according to your wishes. Under the "Design" tab, you can customize the post list to your liking. When you are finished with your settings, simply click on "Save" and your posts archive is ready!

Design Single Post

8. design your single post layout

Hover your mouse over "Templates" and "Single Post" and click on "Edit in Breakdance".

9. single post styling

Click on "Add" and enter "post" in the search field. A list of elements relating to your blog posts will now appear. Here you can choose what you want to show in your blog post. Everything you select can of course be visually customized to your liking via the usual design tab on the left-hand side. You define these settings once here in this template and then have the same style for all blog posts.

  • Post Title: This element shows the title you have set for your post.
  • Post Featured Image: This element displays the image that you have set as the post image in your post.
  • Post Meta: This element displays the metadata of the post, such as author, publication date and the number of comments. You can choose which metadata you want to display.
  • Post Content: This element displays all the content you have created in your post.
  • Adjacent Posts: This element helps you to navigate through all your posts. Here you will find the buttons for "Previous post" and "Next post". You can of course also design these buttons.

10. your result

Now you have set up and designed both your post archive and the template for your individual blog posts. Feel free to test it out and don't forget to link your blog via the menu or the content so that interested parties can access it.

What we guarantee

You will only receive an invoice if we have been able to help!

Our team works hard every day to solve problems quickly for our customers or to achieve optimal results during implementation. As a result, bedemy is now known for its first-class service and has many happy customers. Our past experience and belief in our abilities enables us to offer new customers a unique promise that underlines our commitment to customer satisfaction.

We only issue an invoice if we have really been able to help!

If we are unable to help with a problem or implementation, we will not issue an invoice. Even if we have already invested time. You have no risk, because even in the event that we have implemented everything as requested, our costs are transparent, agreed in advance and never exceed the planned budget!

What our help costs

No nasty surprises

We charge according to a fixed hourly rate, which we will inform you of in a written offer before we charge you for the use of our team. This means that implementing a small feature or fixing a problem is usually quick (often within a few minutes) and therefore doesn't cost much. The implementation of a complete site, on the other hand, can take a few days (depending on the scope).

But you don't have to worry about the costs.

Firstly, you will always receive a quote from us in advance via email, even for smaller support requests. Secondly, we always stick to this cost estimate unless we tell you otherwise. If, during implementation, we realize that the task assigned to us is more complex and will take longer, we will contact you with a revised cost estimate. You can then decide whether you are prepared to accept this revised offer or not. If it's too much for you, we'll stop the project and you won't pay a penny. Not even for the work we have already invested in the project up to that point (according to the initial estimate).
